Loden cloth is a water-resistant, light and warm fabric created in the Middle Ages by Tyrolese monks and first introduced to the nobility by the Emperor Franz Josef of Austria.Ever since 1884, the Leichtfried Loden mill in Austria has specialised in producing high quality woollen cloths & loden fabrics made primarily from extra fine Australian Merino wool.
